Justice and Peace at All Saints

Peace and Justice Committee

The Peace and Justice Committee was recently organized to continue and expand the work of the previous Mission and Outreach Committee.  Last winter and spring that committee participated in St. Paul’s breakfast club, which fed inner city people a hearty breakfast once a month.   With the reconstruction of St. Paul’s parish hall, that program was put in abeyance in the fall.  The committee also began a program of battery recycling.

The Peace and Justice Committee plans on continuing meals programs in the inner city, either at St Paul’s (a bag lunch) and/or at the Rainbow Youth Centre.  We are also planning programs in Whitmore Park, including coffee and muffins for seniors and youth activity days during school PD days.

What does the Lord require of you but to do justice and to love mercy and walk humbly with your God.

            Micah 6:8

Blessed are the peacemakers.

            Matthew 5:9

Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink?  And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you or naked and gave you clothing?   And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you?  And the king will answer then, truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of those who are members of my family you did it to me.

            Matthew 25: 37-40

All Christians are called to be peacemakers and to work for justice.  All Saints has long supported justice ministries with our dollars.  We have also participated in St. Paul’s breakfast club, which fed inner city people a hearty breakfast once a month.
